My Experience, Philosophies, and Services
Before becoming a private writing coach for college applications, my career path started in 2013 as a professor of English in Santiago, Chile. Upon retuning to the States, I obtained my MFA in Writing, worked as a copy editor for a major advertising agency, and taught language composition and communication at Montgomery College.
As a higher education professor working with young adults, many of whom new to advanced composition, I patiently navigate them throughout the entire writing process: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. No matter what level of experience your child has in writing or which stage they're at in their applications, I meet clients at their level and respect each one as an individual with unique needs and goals. My greatest joy comes from witnessing their skills grow, their confidence shine, and the connections they discover between classwork, personal lives, and the world around them.
I also provide students with academic and personal advising, empowering them to become self-advocates for their education and professional lives. I continue striving to help students think creatively, see their full potential, and aim for excellence.
I am committed to guiding prospective college freshmen through the challenge of completing personal statements, supplemental prompts, scholarship essays, and many other written components of college applications. I understand the application process may seem daunting, especially with schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and personal lives pulling teens in every direction. I have designed my workweek to fit their schedules, with completely virtual meetings late into the evening and on weekends.
Families typically book services between May of junior year through November of senior year. Ideally, students should complete their personal statement before schools release their supplemental prompts at the start of August. Depending on space availability, clients may begin collaboration at any time and at any stage. Contact me to determine how I can best help your student.
I love what I do.
